I’ve been studying the Abstract Wilderness and I must be missing something.
For the entire process I thought I was calculating for one encounter only, as I have to determine the Monster Level based on Individual XP value of the ordinary individuals (despite adding to the total XP value the XP for champions, leaders, animals, etc).
On the resolution phase, then I find the mention to “this set of encounters” and “this encounters (sic)”.
And later in Optional Rules, “Multiple rolls for Multiple Encounters”. I believed this was the default mode.
How am I supposed to calculate the Monster Level from more than one encounter? How can I mix everything to use only one roll?
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I had to review the text to figure out what had happened. The original abstract wilderness resolution system (presented in Axioms) was based on the ACKS I encounter tables. When we changed to the ACKS II encounter tables, certain sections of the abstract wilderness rules needed to be changed. It looks like you found a section that needed to be changed, but wasn’t. I will have to revise the text and issue errata, which I can’t spontaneously do in a forum post, so it’ll be a bit. My apologies for the confusion.
