Mark categories read?

I can’t find a way to mark a category as “read”. Is that an available function?

It doesn’t look like it, no - it seems to be a philosophical maxim for the Discourse developers that such a button is a failure on their part (I don’t pretend to understand)

There’s a ‘Dismiss’ on the New/Latest tabs that can clear things. IIRC you just made your account? You’re seeing everything as unread everywhere? I’ll admit I hadn’t tested a fresh account yet, having concentrated on migrating existing.

No, I had an account on the old forums. Just getting the lay of the land in the new ones.
