Thief XP to level vs. Custom class guidelines

Hi everybody,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I am playing around with custom classes and it looks like a class with thievery value 3 and fighting value 1 is going to need 1,200xp to get to level 2. The standard thief, however, is listed as needing 1,250xp to level.

What am I missing? Where does that extra 50xp come from?

Thanks!

You're not missing anything. What's missing is the extra 50xp for Thief 3.

Congratulations on finding the first errata of Player's Companion!

Dang.

Hey, these things happen. Thanks for clearing that up!

Time to edit my human machinist, I guess!

I believe 1250XP is BECMI. I know that B/X has 1200XP for a second level thief. Any reason for the change from B/X?

Hmmm. I'm going to have to go check my original notes and see what I've done here. I wonder if I've double erred. Stand by.

Any thoughts on this, Alex?

I just realized it's been four years since this post. Any thoughts on it?

I believe it's an error. In all versions of ACKS, thieves need 1,250 XP to level. I can't find any other classes that use Thief 3 to compare against it, though.
