p. 104: “Whips and unarmed strikes deal 1d2 damage.”
p. 109: “Normal characters do 1d3 points of nonlethal damage with a punch, 1d4 with a kick; kicks are rolled at a -2 penalty on the attack throw.”
Is a punch 1d2 or 1d3?

A punch is 1d3 nonlethal.
The reference to a punch doing 1d2 damage predates the addition of nonlethal damage rules into the game. If you want to resolve the inconsistency, you can allow a punch to do 1d3 nonlethal or 1d2 lethal.
